DELL Monitor failure

My decision in what computer parts to buy has just been made a whole lot easier. Two weeks outside of Warranty Period my DELL 2407 monitor has had a catastrophic failure. On ringing DELL they manage to keep me on the phone for just over 1/2 an hour before telling me that it was no longer covered. I most probably wouldn’t mind so much it it was one of the cheaper DELL panels, but when it is the high-end bit of kit, it makes me rather annoyed. Last thing I want to do at the moment is spend cash on replacing equipment, especially when I am trying to save for a 5D II body.

The Apple Cinema Screen is looking better every day.

Dell in the Bin

UPDATE – 20/08/2009

I had a closer look at the DELL and found the the power board had blown a fuse, so something on the board let go. Took it to Perth Digital, figured that it would work out to be a cheap fix. I told them what I thought was wrong. They charged me $55 and told me that the power board needed to be replaced, COOL I knew that, but then wanted another $440 to replace it. WTF!!! ABSOLUTE CLOWNS!!! RIPOFF FAIL!

Found part online from LCD Repair.us for $US 59 + 14.95 postage. Install was super easy. Monitor is back in daily operation.

While this was going on decided to get the 30” ACD anyway.
